Loose Women's Brenda Edwards pays heartbreaking tribute to son Jamal following death after 'sudden illness'

Brenda Edwards has released a statement following the death of her son Jamal.

The news of the SBTV founder's passing, aged 31, was shared overnight.

Entrepreneur and music pioneer Jamal was awarded an MBE in 2014 for his services to music.

He is widely credited for launching the careers of several leading British artists including Ed Sheeran, Dave, and Jessie J - all of whom appeared on his 'SBTV' YouTube channel which he launched as a teenager.

On Monday morning, a statement from Loose Women star Brenda was read out on Good Morning Britain.

Host Susanna Reid shared the message after a report on his death, which included a clip of Jamal alongside his mum on the ITV lunchtime show in November.

She said: "Jamal's mother, our dear colleague Brenda Edwards who presents Loose Women here on ITV had released this statement expressing her love, her pride, and her unbearable pain at the loss of her son."

The statement read: "It is with the deepest heartache that I can confirm that my beautiful son Jamal Edwards passed away yesterday morning after a sudden illness.

"Myself, his sister Tanisha and the rest of his family and friends are completely devastated.

"He was the centre of our world."

The heartbreaking message continued: "As we come to terms wit his passing we ask for privacy to grieve this unimaginable loss.

"I would like to thank everyone for their messages of love and support.

"Jamal was an inspiration to myself and so many. Our love for live on his legacy lives on.

"Long live Jamal Edwards MBE, MBA, PHD."

Susanna then said: "Our hearts go out to you Brenda and to all of Jamal's friends and family.

The programme then stayed silent before moving in to the latest weather update.

Tributes have been pouring in from far and wide following the news of Jamal's death.
