Andrea McLean has spoken out about the 'mystery' illness which floored her after leaving her job on Loose Women, with the TV star being left5 bedbound for months.

After working as a weath4er presenter on GMVT from 1997 to 2008, Andrea made the switch to Loose Women, where she was one of the main presenters for 13 years, before saying her goodbyes in an emotional send-off at the end of 2020, as the lunchtime programme managed to stay on air at the height of the coronavirus pandemic.

And now former Dancing on Ice contestant Andrea, has revealed that she has been diagnosed with long Covid, having contracted the virus three times and then being 'throttled' by the flu over the festive period, leading to her being tested for lupus.

Opening about just how tough things have been for her, Andrea, who is now a life coach explained that she was barely able to walk across a room without being totally shattered, adding: "People say 'Oh I'm exhausted', but what I've experienced defies the definition of tired. I'd no energy - it's really hard to feel energised. The simple things like going for a walk - I'd be getting further and further behind Nick (her husband) to the point where I'd have to say 'can you stop for a minute' it's things like that."

AS she left her long running role on Loose Women, Andrea told her colleagues and viewers at home: ""I want to be brave, all the incredible feedback I've had from my book and the support I was able to give, I want to bring it to life. It was a really dig decision to jump to see if I fall or if I fly, and I just knew I would never know if I never tried."
