Loose Women gasp in horror as Gloria Hunniford breaks eye socket after nasty fall

The Loose Women panel gasped in horror as Gloria Hunniford revealed her injuries after a nasty fall.

The Rip Off Britain presenter was joined by Jane Moore, Judi Love and Brenda Edwards on today's edition of the ITV programme. The 82-year-old hadn't appeared on the show for a while and revealed today she has been recovering after she tripped over a rug.

She said: "I took it all on a very hard wooden floor and it was all on my face so I cracked a bone under my eye. There's a bone around your eye that holds the socket in place and that's actually broken.

"As long as it doesn't take the muscle down, my eyesight at the minute is good." Gloria said she has been left "black and blue" from the incident and showed an image of her injured leg to highlight the seriousness of the fall.

A graphic image of Gloria's injuries was shown on today's episode (ITV)

The panel winced at the graphic image and Gloria said her face was similarly injured, but these marks had been masked by make-up. The show was the first time Gloria had been out since the fall and she said she is still "petrified".

She added: "I'm petrified of falling again on that and I haven't been able to go out to the shops. I do think that I walk along the streets now looking for uneven paving stones. Falls are bad and this one was bad."

The Loose Women panel supported Gloria after the health update and she revealed she was delighted to be back on the show. She added: "I feel happy coming here. It's good for my head. I want to get back to what I deem normal and I want to get back to all you girls. It's a very friendly environment to come back to and I feel safe so that's why it's my first day out."
