Former Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard believes there is a possibility Leeds United would have lost that game against Crystal Palace on Monday under Marcelo Bielsa. The Whites held out for a 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park after failing to create anything of note in the final third of the pitch.
Jesse Marsch’s side have now picked up to back-to-back clean sheets in the Premier League following on from their 3-0 win at Watford earlier this month. That was the first time since November that Leeds managed to keep their opponents at bay in what is a crucial period of the season.
So far under Marsch, Leeds have become a more resolute outfit in defence, though their fluidity in attack seems to have relinquished a little bit. However, speaking on the Premier League on NBC Podcast, Howard thinks it is a good sign that Leeds managed to come away with something even when not at their best.

He said: “I think it’s a good result, one point closer to safety. I said at half time I think they have another gear, I still think they have another gear but they didn’t show us that. Under Bielsa they would have possibly lost that, because you can’t always score - sometimes things don’t come off in the final third.
“But what you can do is be resilient at the back and be tough and hard to beat - which is what we saw. Okay they went for it, they didn’t play as well in the second half as we expected them to but they didn’t concede. They kept their second clean sheet in a row, hadn’t had one since November. The signs are still looking good for Leeds.”
