Mekhi Becton was in the building and on the practice field with the New York Jets on Tuesday.
As the team started mandatory minicamp practices this week, Becton made an appearance. The third-year pro had previously not been around.
In recent weeks, Becton had sat out of OTAs (organized team activities). Those are voluntary workouts, but it’s still noteworthy when players aren’t around, specifically ones like Becton.
The offensive lineman had a solid rookie year after being a 2020 first-round selection. Then last offseason he struggled during training camp, only to suffer a knee injury early in the regular season.
While expected to return before the end of the season, Becton did not. Reports of weight gain during rehab didn’t help his case, either.
All that aside, Becton is back and with the Jets for the first time in a long time. He did so–but in a limited capacity. Becton was working with trainers, but he was still there.
