It’s no secret that NBA superstar Kevin Durant is a superfan of the Washington Commanders. Durant has been to many Washington games over the years, often visiting the sidelines before the game.
Durant is such a fan that he was interested in becoming a minority partner for the next owner of his beloved franchise.
Durant, who was traded from the Brooklyn Nets to the Phoenix Suns earlier this year, was in Charlotte for a game against the Hornets last week with his new team. Commanders quarterback Sam Howell happens to be from the Charlotte area, having played high school football at Sun Valley High, which is just over 30 minutes outside of the Queen City.
So, when the Suns played the Hornets on Wednesday, Howell was in attendance. And he and Durant found time to connect.

Now, all Howell needs to do is win Washington’s starting quarterback job. Head coach Ron Rivera said Howell will go into the offseason as the starter, but he’d need to earn it. As of now, Howell is the only quarterback, outside of Jake Fromm, under contract with the Commanders.
