In the wake of their first National League pennant since 2009, the Phillies have struggled out of the gate to begin 2023. Philadelphia is 4–7, three and a half games behind the first-place Braves in the NL East.
During the Phillies' 8–4 loss to the Marlins on Tuesday, however, things went off the rails in a different fashion.
The team’s dollar-dog night promotion spiraled into a hail of hot dogs as fans appeared to hurl frankfurters at each other throughout the contest.
Footage surfaced on Twitter of fans lobbing the sausages at each other down the right field line at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

During the video, one fan seems to enthusiastically yell "food fight" as hot dogs and wrappers soar through the air.
Other angles surfaced throughout the evening as the Phillies slumped toward another loss.

The fracas lent delicious irony to tweets earlier that night that showed long lines as Philadelphia fans rushed to scoop up the cheap hot dogs.
