Lonzo Ball says relationship with father LaVar Ball is strained

Each week, a new episode of “Ball in the Family,” the Ball family’s weekly Facebook series, reveals yet another twist in the showdown between LaVar and Lonzo Ball. In a standoff that has spanned multiple episodes, the two continue to not talk to one another with the future of Big Baller Brand and where Lonzo stands in regards to moving forward with the company being the crux of the matter.

Last week, the two finally ended a weeks-long span of not talking to one another with an argument that saw LaVar refer to his son as “damaged goods.” Unsurprisingly, the fallout of that comment left the two on non-speaking terms, despite LaVar denying as such.

A transcript of the video:

Producer: Right now, you guys aren’t really on the best of speaking terms….

LaVar: No, nope, nope, nope. We are on the best of speaking terms. I’m not even going to go there. Don’t even try to start that saying we not on the best of speaking terms. This is a little setback. People can say what they want, do what they do. Me and him always going to be fine. It’s just going to take some time.

Producer: Is your relationship still strained with your dad at this point?

Lonzo: Our relationship, you know, is not how its been in the past so we’re not really talking to much right now. I really don’t know how he feels but I know he just wants the best for me. He should be happy. I don’t know.

It’s not surprising that LaVar views the situation entirely different than Lonzo, which has been the driving factor in the entirety of the disagreement between the two. LaVar’s disconnect not only with reality but with how his sons are feeling has led to resentment from not only Lonzo but his other two sons as well.
