Lonnie Walker IV sprains ankle, will not return for Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers are struggling in their next-to-last preseason game versus the Minnesota Timberwolves.

They looked promising in the first quarter. They got out on the fast break with regularity and played Anthony Edwards and company to a standstill, ending the period tied at 30.

Since then, Minnesota has dictated the pace, and the Lakers have had trouble locating the bucket.

One Los Angeles player who hasn’t had trouble is Lonnie Walker IV, who was in the starting lineup and put up 12 points in 19 minutes on 5-of-11 shooting.

Alas, he sprained his ankle in the third quarter and will not return.

Lakers fans hope Walker will be the second coming of Malik Monk, who played very well last season but left as a free agent during the summer.

Consistency and efficiency will be the keys for Walker. He has never been a high-percentage shooter. However, he possesses ample athleticism and explosiveness that can make him an asset for the Purple and Gold this season.
