The refrain of “Texas is back!” has become a running joke on college football internet, but this time it was looking like Texas wasn’t going to be the punchline.
The Longhorns nearly did the unthinkable, taking No. 1 Alabama down to the wire and taking the lead late in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately for Texas, and for the rest of college football fans hoping to see the Crimson Tide fall, Bryce Young did Bryce Young things.
On the final drive of the game, the 2021 Heisman Trophy winner led Alabama down the field and set up a game-winning field goal by Will Reichard, Alabama’s annoyingly-reliable kicker.
College football was denied the chance to celebrate No. 1 going down but as the opponent that came up short was also one of the big bad bullies of college football, college football Twitter seemed to have no trouble finding ways to enjoy the outcome.
saban is going to really the savor his glass of blood from an unspoiled youth on the flight home after this one

Easily the most devastating loss Texas has suffered since Chicago bankers bought out Whataburger.

Pretty perfectly called game from Sark, especially with the starting QB down early. Ton of respect. Wish he was our coach in waiting.

Relief
But on that note, Will Reichard is the greatest kicker in Alabama history. We need to secure some big NIL money for him to come back next year.

Alabama knows how to win games in a way that ensures everyone walks away feeling miserable.

During the second-to-last Texas drive, I started yelling about how they needed to run clock or Bama was gonna march back down the field, and some guy kept telling me I was wrong. When Texas lost, he split while I was in the bathroom before I could tell him I told ya so.
