Longford boss Gary Cronin departs with several names already in the hat

Vinny Perth is an early favourite for the Longford Town job, after Monday's news that manager Gary Cronin has left the club.

Cronin, the First Division side revealed, has departed due to “personal circumstances.”

He guided the club to fourth in the league this year and into the play-offs, where they lost out to Galway United on Sunday.

Perth, a former Longford player, had two spells in charge of Dundalk, where he guided them to the 2019 Premier Division and League Cup, and was a penalty shootout away in the FAI Cup final from a historic treble.

Several other names have also been linked with the post, including ex-Shelbourne and Waterford boss Ian Morris, and former Bohemians manager Keith Long.
