The firm said Mr McDonald will "assist the company in its expansion strategy".
The new CEO said: "DeliveryApp’s goal is to change the logistics industry for the better through their focus on technology and ethical driver treatment, resulting in more transparent customer care.
"With the logistics sector under more pressure than ever before, the ethical treatment and wellbeing of drivers is ingrained in DeliveryApp’s DNA.
"After seeing the company’s strong commitment to employee culture and the forward-looking tracking technology that it has developed, I am excited to become part of a young and expanding company in this competitive industry."
Mr Jones added: "Dwain’s leadership and experience will be instrumental to DeliveryApp’s mission to become the leading on demand technology delivery platform in the world.
"Setting strategic goals and supporting technological advancements, Dwain’s appointment will help the company achieve industry firsts to support consumers and businesses and revolutionise their on demand dedicated delivery capabilities."
DeliveryApp is based in Manchester's Bonded Warehouse and counts Mark Stott, the founder and CEO of the property development firm Vita Group, as its lead investor.
Mr Stott, who also owns Stockport County, said: "We’re incredibly confident that Dwain’s appointment as CEO will cement DeliveryApp as a trailblazer in the logistics sector.
