'Long overdue' - Manchester United fans react to Erik ten Hag's possible Harry Maguire decision

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag could ring the changes for the crunch match with rivals Liverpool on Monday.

The Dutchman is desperate for a response from his troops after two straight defeats left them bottom of the Premier League. The Manchester Evening News understands Ten Hag is giving serious consideration to dropping skipper Harry Maguire for the visit of Jurgen Klopp's side, and could instead opt to pair new signing Lisandro Martinez with Raphael Varane.

Speaking in pre-season about his captain, Ten Hag said: "Is Maguire a first-choice? I think he is.

"He’s proved it in the past but he also has to prove it in the present time and in the future. He has played how many times? 60 times for England? He is a career that is really impressive and I expect a lot from him. But there is also internal competition and that is what a club like Man United needs."
