We all have fond memories of nights out with family and friends in the pub.
Merseyside has been home to many great pubs over the decades, serving generations of regulars from the heart of their communities. While some have stood the test of time, sadly some once great institutions have been demolished to make way for something new.
With legendary places like the Red Hall in Prescot or the Leather Bottle in Halewood, many special moments would have been shared. We have put together a list of some of the former Knowsley pubs that have been loved and lost over the years, captured and shared by Flickr's Garstonian.

ECHO readers previously shared their memories on the pubs they remember, from the Bluebell in Huyton to The Golden Eagle in Kirkby. Here we list eight Knowsley pubs we have loved and lost.
Red Lion Hotel - Prescot
The Red Lion Hotel was situated on the corner of Market Place. The p revious occupants - a street food restaurant - closed back in 2019 after just 11 months in business due to a lack of footfall.
Prior to that, the building had been empty since 2015 when the pub closed down just months after reopening following a court-enforced closure in Christmas 2014 due to “rife” drug dealing, drug use and anti-social behaviour at the pub.
In November 2020 Knowsley Council approved plans for The Red Lion Hotel to be split in two, with half of the former pub being turned into a shop.
The Green Dragon - Whiston
The Green Dragon on the corner of Warrington Road and Dragon Lane was demolished back in 2019 after it had been out of use for several years and had become a magnet for vandals.
It originally closed in 2016 when a previous application to knock it down to make way for a KFC was refused.
The Imperial - Prescot
The Imperial was situated on Station Road before it was closed in 2008. The pub was ideal for those using Prescot train station.
Eagle and Child - Prescot
The Eagle and Child pub was located on Warrington Road before it closed in 2007.
The Leather Bottle - Halewood
The Leather Bottle in Halewood was on Leathers Lane and closed in 2006. It has since been demolished and the space is now part of the Halewood shopping centre and bus terminus.
The Derby Arms - Halewood
The Derby Arms pub was demolished back in 2015 and in its place became an apartment block. Located on Church Road, the once popular pub is said to have been established for over a century.
According to a previous story by the Halewood History Group, the field behind the pub was also said to be used as a venue for field days.
The Farmers Arms - Huyton
The Farmers Arms has now been demolished. Situated on Liverpool Road in Huyton, there are currently no plans for the site. The council previously responded after concerns over a 'mystery development' near to the site.
The Quiet Man - Huyton
The Quiet Man pub once stood on Longview Drive, Huyton. Now demolished, a care home was later built on the site.
