The Coastal Way

With 1,680 miles of coast it is no surprise that Lonely Planet has picked a coastal road trip in their round-up. Starting in Aberdaron and ending in St Davids this route covers the entire length of Cardigan Bay.

You will enjoy Aberdaron Beach, Porthmadog, Portmeirion, Harlech and Aberystwyth on this 180-mile road trip.

The Cambrian Way

This route will take you through the Brecon Beacons, into Powys, the Elan Valley, and finishing in Snowdonia, ticking off spectacular mountain views as you go.

The North Wales Way

This route is for history lovers as Lonely Planet has called it the best route for castles and culture. You will begin in Mold and finish in Holyhead taking in Moel Famau, Snowdonia, and the north Wales coast along the way.

The castles included in the trip are Ruthin Castle, Conwy Castle, Caernarfon Castle, and more as you learn about the history of Wales.

The route includes Wye Valley, Tintern Abbey, Skenfrith Castle, Grosmont Castle, Hay-on-Wye, and Powis Castle.

South Wales Circuit

To try and pack in everything Wales has to offer Lonely Planet has recommended the south Wales circuit which begins in Cardiff and ends in Chepstow. This has been named the best road trip for a bit of everything by Lonely Planet.
