Londoner’s Diary: The Delevingnes, Duran Duran and Margot Robbie descend on party island

It’s that time of year again.

Mid-August means the mass migration of London’s glossy set to the party isle of choice. After several rocky summers, Ibiza’s Aena airport recorded 1,601,193 arrivals leading up to June. Like London, the island is divided. “The Delevingnes and those kinds of people are in the north. The party strip is in the south,” says Ben Pundole, creative director of the Beach Caves at luxury resort Six Senses Ibiza, where he lets on Duran Duran have been recording.

It-girls Lady Lola Bute and Georgia May Jagger spent days planning party outfits at boutique Annie’s Ibiza in Old Town. “We’ve had a lot of A-listers in this week, and one really big one,” owner Annie Doble says. “But I can’t really say names because they’re still on the island”. A game of beer pong played with Margot Robbie, Eiza González and Jess Glynne gives a hint.

Influencer Chiara Ferragni, models Jordan Barrett and Skye Jones, and TV star Vas J Morgan were also spied. After three weeks on Ibiza’s decks, Pete Tong is swapping flip-flops for fillies as he plays Newmarket Racecourse tonight. But he isn’t worried about the crowd: “Racecourse days get rowdy”.

Peggy Mitchell praise

Jaime Winstone as Peggy Mitchell (BBC)

Actor Jaime Winstone is honoured to play Peggy Mitchell in an upcoming EastEnders flashback episode. “It’s a whole different fame that comes with it,” she tells us. It’s not the first time she’s stepped into Barbara Windsor’s shoes, having played ‘Babs’ in her biopic, and she still gushes over her: “She was so giving with her time, just like a human Tinker Bell”. Winstone is jetting off to Ibiza today.

Champion’s chill before Wembley

Will Champion ([

We spotted Coldplay drummer Will Champion at The Londoner’s local boozer “not feeling quotable” ahead of the band’s Wembley stint. Tube strikes caused one show to be postponed. His thoughts on TfL? “I don’t want to insert myself into industrial disputes”. Boo.
