DAVID TENNANT has spoken of his fears that he will forget his lines in the middle of a stage run. “You start rehearsing the speech you’re going to have to make to the audience about the fact that you can’t do this any longer and you’re going to have to go to your dressing room and sob yourself to sleep,” he said.
Tennant said a voice in his head says: “Even though I’ve done this for six weeks, I will no longer be able to do it and a bit of my memory is about to drop out.” The star told the Interval Drinks podcast he has a strict routine during each show to silence his doubts, which has included three squares of chocolate.
He needn’t worry too much though: when he did forget lines at a press night playing Romeo at the Barbican, no one seemed to notice.
Club members fear a crypto-invasion
Members of an exclusive Soho club are worried that it will change after being bought by a cryptocurrency firm. Blacks, on Dean Street, whose members are said to include Benedict Cumberbatch, and Keira Knightly, is based on a supper club founded by Dr Samuel Johnson.
Now been sold to Crypto Club Global, a chain of private clubs for crypto investors, who gave all of their existing customers access to the venue. In exchange, some existing Blacks members have been given cryptocurrency.
Members fear they will be confronted by braying “crypto bros”. One told The Londoner they could be persuaded to get along, as long as new arrivals “stand me shots of Hakashu single malt… while they explain why owning NFTs is better than having actual things”.
A spokesperson for Crypto Club Global told us they were committed to maintaining the longstanding values of the club while taking “a step into the 21st century”.
