A second week of warm weather is expected in London
(Picture: REUTERS)London will be making the most of the glorious sunny weather as they stay home to avoid the travel chaos amid the biggest rail strike in 30 years this week.
Temperatures are set to reach the high 20s on Wednesday and Thursday as millions work from home due to rail and Tube strike action.
But the Met Office is reminding people to pack their suncream and hat when heading out, with high to very high UV levels expected.
Hayfever suffrers are also warned of high grass pollen levels.
In London, temperatures are forecast to reach 26C on both Wednesday and Thursday, possibly with a high of 28C, before cooling down on Friday.
Long periods of late evening sunshine are expected on Tuesday, marking the end of the Northern Hemisphere’s longest day of the year.
Londoners will wake up to a fine day on Wednesday with any overnight mist or fog patches quickly clearing.
Long sunny periods are forecast throughout, with a maximum temperature of 28C expected across London, the East Midlands and towards Lincolnshire, Met Office forecaster Becky Mitchell told the Standard.
Other parts of England will be basking in temperatures reaching mid to high 20s on Wednesday.
But the sun will be short lived, with much cooler weather forecast from Friday into the weekend.
Rain and possible thunderstorms are on their way too, with Glastonbury festival-goers warned.
Scotland and Northern Ireland are also expected to be cloudier and cooler.
The warm high comes after a sizzling week across the UK which saw some of the highest temperatures of the year.
London reached a sweltering 31C on Friday.
