(Picture: REUTERS)London is set to feel close to freezing on Tuesday - in sharp contrast to “balmy” Scotland, which will reach 12C in places, say forecasters.
The Met Office predicts Elgin in Moray, five miles from the coast in the Scottish Highlands, will hit 12C.
Inverness, Aberdeen, and even John O’Groats on Great Britain’s northeastern tip are expected to reach 11C - while Edinburgh and Glasgow could see temperatures of 10C.

In London meanwhile the picture will be dramatically different - as it continues to feel close to freezing.
The Met Office says temperatures will reach a maximum of 5C in the capital on Tuesday, but will feel as cold as 1C.
Early on Wednesday morning, forecasters say it could feel as cold as -2C.
The Met Office says it will be “bright and very mild in the northeast” on Tuesday, while central and southern areas could see freezing fog.
Meteorologist Alex Deakin explained the “big contrasts” the UK is seeing are due to different pressure systems and winds.
“It’s much colder across the south compared to the north,” he said in the Met Office’s daily national weather update.
“The reason for that is high pressure dominating across the south...and a bit of easterly breeze [is] bringing the colder air in from the continent.

“Meanwhile, low pressure systems to the north of the UK and westerly winds brining milder air in from the Atlantic.”
Temperatures have plummeted across London in recent days.
Thousands of passengers at Heathrow saw their flights cancelled on Monday morning after a freezing fog descended over the capital.
Heathrow Airport recorded its coldest night since December 2010 and coldest January night since 1987 as temperatures dropped to minus 8.4C.
The Met Police and London Fire Brigade have also warned Londoners not to venture onto ice, as ponds and lakes across the capital have frozen over.
A teenager was taken to hospital on Monday after falling through ice on a frozen pond on Leyton Flats in east London, while Sunday saw a dog rescued by a fisherman from another icy pond in Richmond.
