London travel news LIVE: Severe delays on Victoria and Elizabeth lines as Heathrow trains disrupted

Trains have been hit by severe delays on the Elizabeth line between Paddington and Heathrow and the Victoria line this evening.

It comes after delays to rail services around Clapham Junction continued into the afternoon after emergency services rushed to the scene of a casualty on the tracks this morning.

British Transport Police confirmed that officers were called to Barnes railway station this morning, where a person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The tragic incident triggered severe delays to rail services between Clapham Junction and Richmond, as well as routes travelling into London stations.

Services have now resumed following several hours of travel chaos, but service cancellations and delays of up to 30 minutes continued until 3pm.

There is no service between Earl's Court and Ealing Broadway/Richmond while Tfl engineers fix a faulty train at West Kensington.

Good service on the rest of the line.

Major disruption between Paddington and Heathrow expected until the end of the day

A broken rail between Southall and Hayes & Harlington is causing disruption to journeys between London Paddington, Slough Heathrow.

Major disruption is expected to last until the end of the day.

National Rail has said the following alterations will apply:

  • 2 trains an hour will run between Abbey Wood and Heathrow Terminals
  • Services between Heathrow and Shenfield will start/terminate at London Paddington or London Liverpool Street
  • Services between Abbey Wood and Maidenhead will be cancelled

All other services will run as booked.

Severe delays remain on Elizabeth and Victoria lines

As of 8.30pm the severe delays on the Elizabeth and Victoria lines remain.

TfL said there were svere delays between Paddington and Heathrow Airport/Reading while Network Rail fix a track fault at Southall.

A speed restriction over a defective track between Southall and Hayes & Harlington is causing disruption to journeys between London Paddington, Slough and Heathrow, Tfl has reported.

As a result, trains may be cancelled or delayed by up to 30 minutes.

Disruption is expected to last until 8pm.

Minor delays on the Elizabeth Line

There are minor delays on the Hammersmith & City line due to train cancellations, Tfl has reported.

Goldhawk Road station remains closed

Goldhawk Road station remains closed this afternoon, as police continue to investigate an earlier incident.

Police were called at around 1pm on Wednesday to reports of a stabbing in Goldhawk Road.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a man suffering stab injuries.

The Met Police said the victim was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.

Minor delays on the DLR and Jubilee line

Minor delays are expected between Stratford International and Woolwich Arsenal due to a signal failure at Canning Town.

Train cancellations have also caused minor delays on the Jubilee line.

Victoria line part suspended due to points failure at Walthamstow Central

The Victoria line is part suspended between Seven Sisters and Walthamstow Central due to a points failure at Walthamstow Central.

Severe delays have been reported on the rest of the line.

Good service resumes to Clapham Junction trains

National Rail confirmed that emergency services have completed their work and all trains are running normally between Clapham Junction and Hounslow/Richmond.

It came after emergency services rushed to the scene of a casualty on the tracks earlier today.

Officers have confirmed that a person sadly died at the scene.

Transport Police confirm one person died in earlier incident

British Transport Police confirmed to The Standard a person was sadly pronounced dead near Barnes Station following an earlier incident.

“Officers were called to Barnes railway station at around 7am today (12 February) following reports of a casualty on the tracks,” the statement read.

“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Train tickets still being accepted on alternative routes, says National Rail

National Rail has shared a list of bus routes that travellers can use as a backlog continues to impact rail services around Clapham Junction.

All lines are now clear following an earlier emergency, but travellers have been warned delays of up to 30 minutes could continue until around 3pm.

Road closed in Shepherd's Bush following police incident

Goldhawk Road in Shepherd’s Bush Green is currently closed in both directions following a police incident.

No further details are available at this time.

There’s a detour in operation for the bus routes 94 and 237.

Lines reopen around Clapham Junction but delays continue

National Rail has confirmed that lines have reopened after emergency services were called in this morning.

Trains have been delayed for the last few hours by up to an hour, with passengers encouraged to use alternative routes.

Although lines have now re-opened, cancellations and delays of up to 30 minutes may continue until around 3pm.

National Rail confirms power turned off to rails during emergency

National Rail has confirmed that the emergency incident actually took place between Twickenham and Putney.

But in order to allow emergency services to attend the scene, power running through the rails in the surrounding area was turned off.

“All lines are currently blocked towards Clapham Junction,” they said in a statement.

INRIX is reporting that Finchley Road is blocked in both directions close to St John’s Wood due to emergency services responding to an incident on the A41.

Train tickets accepted across bus routes, says National Rail

A quick reminder that travellers impacted by the severe delays around Clapham Junction can use their tickets at no extra cost on several bus services.

National Rail confirmed that your ticket is valid on:

  • Reading Buses 4, 4A, 3, 703 and 500
  • Thames Valley Buses 128, 129, 151 and 703
  • Falcon Buses 461, 456 and 557
  • White Bus Services 01, 441, 441A, 566, 567, 446, 500, 566 and 567

This also applies to London buses and London Underground services.

'Major disruption' continues on rail services

Here’s a quick update on all the train lines impacted by an earlier ‘incident’ that was attended by emergency services.

This morning, holidaymakers using the Stansted Express faced travel disruption due to overhead wire problems between Broxbourne and Cheshunt.

Congestion around Kew Bridge Station following crash

The AA is reporting that roads are partially blocked southbound on Chiswick High Road at Kew Bridge Station.

This is due to a crash between a car and a van earlier, that’s lead to queueing traffic.

Lanes are open, but expect delays.

Some train lines reopen but delays continue

Some train lines between Clapham Junction, Hounslow and Richmond have resumed, but passengers may still face delays of up to an hour.

Services won’t be in operation at Barnes station and wider disruption is expected until 3pm.

Rail services into London Waterloo face "major delays"

This comes after emergency services responded to an incident on the lines.

Slow moving traffic around Beckenham and Elmers End

Traffic monitoring platform INRIX is reporting that there is slow-moving traffic and road blockages following a crash on Croydon Road Westbound near Beckenham.

Traffic was initially flowing but has been halted again, and a detour is in place.

This is impacting bus routes: 54, 194, 356, 358, 367.

Stansted Express passengers reminded of ongoing delays

Delays to the Stansted Express and other Greater Anglia trains are expected until at least 9am this morning.

This is due to overhead wire problems between Cheshunt and Harlow Town.

Passengers are reminded that tickets for Greater Anglia trains can be used on London Underground services, as well as Great Northern and Thameslink trains.

If you purchased an advanced ticket, you will be allowed to use it on earlier and later routes if needed.

“Greater Anglia and Network Rail are sorry if your journey has been affected by this disruption,” the rail network said.

M25 delays and queuing traffic this morning

Motorists using the M25 near Potters Bar this morning face delays due to an earlier crash.

The motorway is partially blocked clockwise near J23, with congestion building up and just one lane open.

Clapham Junction and Hounslow/Richmond lines closed after "incident"

National Rail has revealed that emergency services are currently dealing with “an incident” which means that has closed the line between Clapham Junction and Hounslow / Richmond.

Trains could be up to 30 minutes late, or may be cancelled entirely.

Delays on East Ham roads following crash

Train services to Stansted Airport cancelled

Greater Anglia has confirmed that train routes to and from Stansted Airport have been cancelled due to overhead wire problems.

As it stands, seven train services between the airport and London have been cancelled so far.

These include:

  • 05:40 London Liverpool Street to Stansted Airport due 06:30
  • 06:00 Stansted Airport to London Liverpool Street due 06:49
  • 06:15 Stansted Airport to London Liverpool Street due 07:07
  • 06:28 Stansted Airport to London Liverpool Street due 07:22
  • 06:45 Stansted Airport to London Liverpool Street due 07:41
  • 07:10 London Liverpool Street to Stansted Airport due 07:59
  • 08:15 Stansted Airport to London Liverpool Street due 09:10

It’s unclear at this point how long the disruption will go on.

Clapham Junction and Victoria track points failure fixed

National Rail has confirmed that there is now a good service on trains running between Clapham Junction and Victoria.

This comes after earlier delays due to a points failure on the track.

Disruption was initially expected until 8:30am, but staff were able to resolve the issue quicker than expected.
