London travel news LIVE: Delays on the Waterloo and City line, South Western Railway and c2c

Expect delays during today’s rush hour - (Getty Images)

Commuters may face difficult journeys to work this morning, with delays on several TfL routes and South Western Railway lines.

At 8.00am, there were minor delays on the Waterloo and City lines due to a shortage of trains.

There were also disruptions across South Western Railway trains coming in and from London Waterloo. This is due to a signalling problem at New Malden.

As a result of this issue, trains running between Wimbledon and New Malden may be revised. The disruption is expected until 10:30am.

The c2c also reported a reduced service on some lines between London Fenchurch Street and West Ham due to a fault with the signalling system.

London Marathon road closures 2025

Road closures throughout the capital are unavoidable as more than 56,000 runners are anticipated for the London Marathon 2025 on Sunday, April 27.

The 26.2-mile course will be securely completed by runners thanks to the closure of major roadways during the day.

The race will affect far more people than just those putting on their trainers because it traverses five London boroughs: Greenwich, Southwark, the City of London, Tower Hamlets, and Westminster.

If you are unable to use Duke Street, you should use the station help point for further assistance to complete your journey.

Amended service between Shepherd's Bush and Wembley Central

Trains between London Kings Cross and Cambridge / Peterborough will divert non-stop via Hertford North, with extended journey times.

A13 traffic cleared

Passengers who require these stations should take train services from London Waterloo to Hampton Court / Strawberry Hill / Teddington.

Disruption between London Fenchurch Street and West Ham expected until 09:30

Residents have called London Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan's plans to part-pedestrianise Oxford Street "senseless" and a "vanity project."

The mayor had exaggerated the necessity for a drastic makeover of the well-known central London high street, they told a London Assembly inquiry.

HS2 boss earning £200k put £5.40 Tube journey on expenses

It was disclosed that an HS2 executive who makes over £250,000 annually claimed £5.40 for travel expenses on the Tube to attend a meeting.

Between October and November 2024, Emma Head filed three claims for trips on the London Tube, according to The Telegraph.

The project's chief railway officer, Ms Head, is among the best paid government officials; she was included among the most recent "high earners" by the Cabinet Office.

It comes as the project has been criticised by MPs due to its ballooning budget. Originally estimated at £37.5 billion in 2009, HS2's projected cost has surged to between £67 billion and £83 billion, with some estimates even higher.
