New restaurant proposed by Transport for London for the disused back of Brixton station

10:10 , Nuray Bulbul

Transport for London is proposing a "attractive new restaurant" for the abandoned rear of Brixton Underground station.

Lambeth Council has received designs for the new location from Places for London, the property arm of the transport authority.

Previously, Tube employees employed the abandoned section of the station that faces Electric Lane as a recreational area.

According to Places for London, the absence of takeaway would reduce the possibility that the new location would draw antisocial behavior.

According to Places for London, the new location won't negatively affect the amenities of nearby residences.

In addition, it stated that the restaurant would be open Sunday through Thursday from 10:00 to 23:00 and close at midnight on weekends.

It also shows that King's Cross was the most popular place for individuals to seek compensation, but Waterloo station had the most reported injuries.

While escalators and stairs also caused thousands of accidents, slips, trips, and falls accounted for the majority of injuries at London's stations.

London Underground’s book exchanges could be saved

09:36 , Nuray Bulbul

This week, comutters saw a sign appearing in several stations across London read: “Due to fire safety regulations from the London Fire Brigade, we have been forced to close all book exchange libraries.

“[This] is on all London Underground stations with immediate effect. We are all sad to see this go. Thank you for all your support over the years.”

There has been constant demand on TfL to take greater action to lower the number of traffic fatalities. In addition to an intermediate goal of no bus deaths by 2030, it maintains that it is still on track to meet Sir Sadiq's "vision zero" goal of eliminating road deaths in the capital by 2041.

It demands that "any joint housing development between TfL and property developers make social housing accessible to all first."

An RMT spokesperson said: “The union has always called for transport workers to be treated as key workers, like they were in the pandemic.

“Therefore it is only fair and proper that they get priority on social housing in London near to their places of work so they can keep London moving 24/7.”
