
Trains travelling to and from London Liverpool Street faced delays on Thursday after a person tragically died on the tracks.
Transport police confirmed that officers were called to the line near Walthamstow this morning following reports of a person on the tracks.
“Officers were called to an area of the line in Walthamstow this morning (Thursday) shortly before 7am following reports of a casualty on the tracks,” a spokesperson told The London Standard.
“Paramedics also attended however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are currently working to establish the full circumstances behind the person’s death.”
This morning’s emergency incident impacted Greater Anglia routes, London Overground trains and the Stansted Express. National Rail has confirmed that lines are now open, but some delays may continue.
Elsewhere, commuters relying on the Piccadilly line faced delays on Thursday morning due to a faulty track, while the Metropolitan line was also suspended due to repair works.

London Liverpool Street lines open but some delays continue
13:10 , Tamara DavisonAccording to National Rail, there are still some minor delays to trains travelling in and out of London Liverpool Street.
This may continue until around 1:30pm.
The latest update reads: “Lines have reopened following the emergency services dealing with an earlier incident between London Liverpool Street and Cheshunt. Trains may still be delayed by up to 30 minutes, cancelled or diverted.”
Delays continue on Piccadilly and Metropolitan lines
12:55 , Tamara DavisonDelays to the Piccadilly and Metropolitan lines have continued into the afternoon due to faults reported earlier today.
Although the backup has eased on the Piccadilly line, there are still minor delays for trains around Acton, Uxbridge, and Heathrow Airport. There is now a good service on the rest of the line.
Meanwhile, over on the Metropolitan line, there are severe delays and no Northbound service due to a signal failure at Harrow-on-the-Hill.
Road delays around central London
12:35 , Tamara DavisonAccording to TfL, some severe delays are being reported on roads in Westminster and in Kensington & Chelsea.
Around Westminster, work on the Piccadilly Underpass is leading to traffic backing up in both directions.
In Kensington & Chelsea, there are delays on all approaches to Cromwell Road, with eastbound traffic tailing back to Warwick Road.
Work is expected to continue in both locations until March 18, so expect some delays to journeys over the next few days.
M25 crash leads to queueing traffic
12:15 , Tamara DavisonA crash on the M25 north of Barnet has led to delays and queueing traffic near South Mimms.
According to INRIX, the motorway is partially blocked anticlockwise between J23 and J24.
Only one lane is curently passing the incident, and exit lanes are blocked.
Some delays continue on London Liverpool Street services

Crash near London Zoo blocks road
11:40 , Tamara DavisonAccording to road monitoring platform INRIX, Park Road is partially blocked due to a crash between Gloucester Place and Kent Terrace.
“A car is sideways in the road blocking one side by the Flower Shop, taking turns to get past,” they reported.
Traffic is coping well, but expect some minor delays to journeys.
Greater Anglia cancellations continue

According to their latest status updates, the Stansted Airport to London Liverpool Street due at 12:47 is the latest cancelled train.

Delays continue on London Underground services
11:00 , Tamara DavisonTravellers using the Piccadilly Line may face minor delays to their journeys today due to ongoing issues with the track near Cockfosters.
According to TfL, this will mainly impact people travelling between Acton Town and Uxbridge or Heathrow Airport, as well as between Arnos Grove and Cockfosters.
There is a good service on the rest of the line.
Elsewhere, the Metropolitan Line remains part suspended with delays across the line.
There is currently no service between Aldgate and Baker Street due to a signal failure at Harrow-on-the-Hill.
More train disruptions ahead this weekend

This will impact trains in and out of London Waterloo as staff work on replacing tracks between Queenstown Road and Clapham Junction.
There will be rail replacement services on routes operating on both Saturday 15 and Sunday 16, March for trains travelling through this area.
London Liverpool Street lines reopen but delays continue

Emergency services and British Transport Police were reportedly attending an incident this morning, which led to major disruption across a number of train lines.

Metropolitan Line suspended

Train cancellations expected until around 11am on Greater Anglia trains

National Rail confirmed the disruption could continue until at least 11am.
According to the latest update: “Service disruption is expected on all routes until lines reopen. Some trains may be diverted via Seven Sisters.”

As you can see by the map, there are severe delays from Liverpool Lime Street right up to Bishop’s Stortford.

Road congestion in South London

The A215 South Norwood Hill is closed in both directions due to an earlier crash.
There’s also traffic on the A2216 Lordship Lane and congestion being reported around Forest Hill.
Minor delays to the Piccadilly Line

This comes as staff fix a fault with the track at Cockfosters.

This is due to emergency services dealing with an incident on the tracks.
“Whilst teams attend the incident, trains may be delayed by up to 30 minutes, cancelled or diverted,” said National Rail.
“Staff are working closely with the British Transport Police and Network Rail to resume train operations as soon as possible. In the meantime, please be prepared for longer journey times than usual.”
Gaps of nearly 15 minutes on Piccadilly Line

This comes as teams work to fix a faulty track near Cockfosters that is causing delays across the line.
