London’s sunset beats Paris and Venice to become one of TikTok’s favourites

Producers at Selling Sunset might need to consider swapping Los Angeles for a series in London – as the capital is one of the best places in the world to watch the sun go down. Apparently.

You might not see the sun disappear behind mountains or from a beach around these parts but there is something beautiful about how it lingers in the sky – if it ever comes out at all.

It is all according to a poll, which we are just going to claim is very accurate and well researched, which ranks London above even Paris, Venice and the Maldives as one of the best places in the world to watch the sunset.

Agency Titan Travel looked through posts on social media platforms Instagram and TikTok to find the most picturesque spots worldwide. Judges decided the order based on the quality of the picture and also the number of posts and their reach.

And while London did not top the poll, that honour went to Bali, it did finish sixth and Titan clocked 11.4 million views of the capital on TikTok, which was the fourth most watched of any location.

The agency said: “The UK capital boasts plenty of locations to watch the sunset so it comes as no surprise it’s one of the most popular locations on TikTok.”

Titan said that popular sunset spots include Primrose Hill and Greenwich Park, one of London’s Unesco world heritage sites. It didn’t mention the view from Walthamstow village or how the sun can make Harlesden glow, but it must have surely been implied.

Santorini, Ibiza, Maui and San Diego completed the top five.

Titan said the methodology began with a list of the best locations to watch sunsets worldwide taken from list articles and ranked from the total number of Instagram posts tagged #[location]sunset and TikTok posts tagged #[location]sunset. Data was collected in May.

While the findings are unlikely to be backed up by any other poll, ever, Londoners should nonetheless take pride in their sunset views. After all, it could be worse, we could have to settle for views like those of Borneo or Zanzibar, which barely squeezed into Titan’s top 20.
