London's bubblegum pink cocktail bar Tonight Josephine to open in Cardiff in March

A bubble gum pink cocktail bar with sassy Instagrammable interiors has confirmed it’s set to open on the former site of Charleston’s Steakhouse in Cardiff city centre in March.

Tonight Josephine currently has three bars in London and one in Birmingham and is known for its lavish cocktail menu and extravagant bottomless brunches.

Named after Empress Joséphine Bonaparte, the first wife of Napoleon, Tonight Josephine’s eye-catching interior features lots of neon, pink and glitter.

Owned by the Adventure Bar Group, the company behind venues such as Adventure Bar, Blame Gloria, Bar Elba and The Escapologist, the Cardiff branch of Tonight Josephine will have a capacity of around 290 people and will create 30 new jobs in the city centre.

Tom Kidd, Adventure Bar Group Founder, said: “We love Cardiff and have admired its vibrance and hospitality scene for some time. We’ve built a legion of Tonight Josephine fans in London and Birmingham; we’ve had such an amazing reaction to the concept so far. We can’t wait to open our doors to the people of Cardiff in true ‘Tonight Josephine’ style.”

Tonight Josephine takes over the former site of Charleston’s steakhouse on Caroline Street. One of Cardiff’s most iconic restaurants, Charleston’s served up late-night steak dinners for more than 30 years and was one of the city's highest-profile hospitality closures of 2021 .

Tonight Josephine isn’t the only new bar to arrive in Cardiff in 2022 . Par 59, a golf bar that’s backed by Gareth Bale, is set to open in the spring whilst Scandinavian beer hall Heidi's Bier Bar plans to open on Mill Lane.
