Sadiq Khan’s Night Czar Amy Lamé has had her pay packet increase by around 40 per cent to almost £120,000 in the past year, according to The Spectator magazine.
Lamé was criticised during Covid for not helping London nightlife enough, with a petition to remove her during the pandemic. City Hall data suggests the number of nightclubs in the capital dropped by 22 per cent between 2019 and 2021.
An interview with the Observer in 2020 quoted nightclub owners who claimed she had "achieved little in the post". Lamé responded that she would be “judged by the work that I do”.
The mayor’s office explained the rise, which happened in two increments in the past seven months by saying that Lamé has gone up two pay grades. Lamé’s salary was previously quoted as £83,169 in media reports. But according to the magazine, she now gets a total salary of £116,925.
Lamé also works as a DJ on BBC Radio 6 Music, with a weekly Sunday afternoon show.
