London Marathon 2019 prize money: How much winners will receive for race victory

The London Marathon is generally ran by the masses for charitable causes all around the world.

But for the elite runners, there is more than just personal pride at stake.

It is one of the most illustrious races in the world and as a result, there is good money on offer for the professionals.

Most of their prize money will be made based on their timings, but there is also a sizable amount on offer for the finishing position.

The men's and women's pay outs are in line with one another.

Here is the prize money for the 2019 London Marathon...

Women's race prize money

  • 1st: $55,000
  • 2nd: $30,000
  • 3rd: $22,500
  • 4th: $15,000
  • 5th: $10,000
  • 6th: $7,500
  • 7th: $5,000
  • 8th: $4,000
  • 9th: $3,000
  • 10th: $2,000
  • 11th: $1,500
  • 12th: $1,000

Additional time bonuses awarded for running under certain time:

  • 2:18:00: $100,000
  • 2:20:00: $75,000
  • 2:22:00: $50,000
  • 2:23:00: $25,000
  • 2:24:00: $15,000
  • 2:25:00: $10,000
  • 2:26:00: $5,000
  • 2:27:00: $3,000
  • 2:28:00: $1,000

Men's race prize money

  • 1st: $55,000

  • 8th: $1,800
  • 9th: $1,400
  • 10th: $900

The Flying 400 wheelchair bonus:

Competitors in the men's and women's wheelchair races also compete in a time trial during the race.

It runs from the 12.58 mile mark and lasts for 400 metres. The two fastest from each race receive a bonus as follows:

  • 1st: $10,000
  • 2nd: $5,000

British runner race bonuses

These sums of money are on offer to British athletes eligible to compete for the UK at major championships.

Women:

  • 2:29:00: $10,000
  • 2:30:00: $9,000
  • 2:31:00: $8,000
  • 2:32:00: $7,000
  • 2:33:00: $6,000
  • 2:34:00: $5,000
  • 2:35:00: $4,000
  • 2:36:00: $2,500
  • 2:37:00: $1,500
  • 2:38:00: $1,000
  • 2:40:00: $500

Men:

  • 2:09:00: $10,000
  • 2:10:00: $9,000
  • 2:11:00: $8,000
  • 2:12:00: $7,000
