London flat mocked for £1,150 rent with the bath in centre of living room

A flat has been put up for rent at £1,150 a month but anyone choosing it would have to be prepared to take a bath in the living room.

The Wimbledon pad has been slammed on social media for it not even offering basic bathroom privacy and yet it is still a sizeable price for a would-be renter.

Space is at a premium in the studio flat with the bed also only a step away from the kitchen area and there is a television on the wall.

But the most bizarre feature of the apartment is that the bath is next to the backdoor which leads to a small patio outside.

In the advert for the studio it says that it has been designed to “maximise the space available”.

While it claimed that the bathroom was hidden away, this seems to be thanks only to a shower curtain.

At the same time, though, bills are included and it is £1,150 a month in an extremely expensive area to rent.

And the letting agent said that the studio could be rented out by a tennis fan who wanted to watch the Wimbledon tournament.

It sparked a backlash on social media at the cost of living.

One person tweeted: “London cost of living is so disgusting that you pay £1,150 per month to rent a bath in a bed/kitchen as advertised on Rightmove today.

“Living in a decent home is an essential and fundamental basic human right.

“It shouldn't be a privileged novelty."

CHK Mountford are letting the property which is advertised on Rightmove.

The property listing states: "Set on the ground floor of a wonderful detached private residence in the heart of Wimbledon Village is this self-contained pied a terre.

"The property has been immaculately refurbished to a very high standard and has been cleverly designed to maximise the space available.

"To the front of the property is a small private patio. The room is fully furnished and there is a small kitchenette area complete with sink, microwave and fridge.

"There is a separate WC and a bath which has been cleverly designed to be fully hidden from view if required plus a generous storage cupboard/wardrobe.

"One parking space is available and is set behind the properties private gates offering complete secure parking.

"This property would be ideal for a working professional looking for a weekday base and who is looking for something which is centrally located and finished to a high standard.

"All bills are included within the monthly rental. Available on a short or long term basis, please note that for a short term rental the cost would be on a weekly basis.

"And would be at a higher rental amount than for a long term tenancy - please contact the office directly for verification of the weekly rental.

"The property is available for rental during Wimbledon Tennis event and is the perfect base for those wanting to be close to the site and have secure parking in addition."
