(Picture: Metropolitan Police/PA)A survivor has won compensation of a reported £300,000 after suffering severe injuries in the London Bridge terror attack.
Eight people were killed and 48 injured when three Islamic terrorists drove a van into pedestrians on London Bridge before getting out and stabbing people in Borough Market in June 2017.
The attackers, who had been wearing fake suicide vests, were shot dead by police.
Peter Lunt, of Long Sutton, Spalding, Lincolnshire, spent eight months in hospital after the van ploughed into him and his wife Tanya as they walked across the bridge.
He suffered a severe traumatic brain injury, multiple fractures and a personality change, according to court papers.
The 47-year-old sued the estates of two of the terrorists, Khuram Butt and Youssef Zaghba, as well as Probus Insurance Co who provided insurance for the Renault van hired by Butt.
He has now won damages in a confidential settlement, with the insurers ordered to pay his legal costs.
He also asked for the award to be provisional, allowing him to return to court for more compensation if his condition deteriorates and he develops epilepsy or dementia.
An inquest in 2019 ruled that the three terrorists had been lawfully killed.
