Lok Sabha polls | SC judgement on EVMs a big jolt to Congress-RJD combine, says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 26 addressed two public meetings in Bihar and slammed Congress party and its alliance partner in the State, Rashtriya Janata Dal over their connivance in usurping people’s inherited property and also distributing 27% Other Backward Class (OBC) reservation among their “vote-bank” Muslims. Mr Modi also said that the Supreme Court has given them (Congress and RJD) a big jolt on the use of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM ) in elections.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, though was present along with Mr. Modi on the dais in Munger public meeting from where Mr Kumar’s close associate and former JD(U) national president Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh is contesting Lok Sabha poll against mahagathbandhan candidate Kavita Kumari Mahto (RJD). Mr Singh is sitting MP from Munger. Earlier, Opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal had taken dig over Mr Kumar’s conspicuous absence from PM Modi’s recent meetings allegedly after his (Mr Kumar’s) faux-pas at Nawada meeting ON April 7 in presence of PM Modi. Munger goes to poll in fourth phase on May 13.

“In India religion based reservation cannot be done as per supreme court directive but Congress party devised a Karnataka model by distributing 27% reservation marked for Other Backward Class (OBC) among their vote-bank, Muslims and their alliance partner RJD has been a mute spectator”, the Prime Minister said while addressing the public meetings at Araria and Munger.

“When they (Congress-RJD) would come to power they would replicate the Karnataka model in the country and rob STs, SCs and OBC of their reservation rights to distribute it among the Muslims”, added Mr. Modi. “Do you want your OBC reservation quota to be robbed off? Congress and RJD do not believe in Constitutional value”, he said further. “But, as far as Modi is here, they cannot do this based on religion and this is Modi’s guarantee”, asserted PM Modi at the Araria rally. Araria goes to poll on May 7 in third phase.

Mr. Modi also said that a new video has surfaced in which former Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh is seen, saying “Muslims have the first right over country’s resources”. “Now would the Delhi media broadcast that video and expose Congress party’s vote-bank politics?”, he asked while adding, “for me, poor of the country across religious lines have got the first right over country’s resources”.

While launching sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Mr Modi said, “the Congress shahjade (crown prince) says he would get survey of every family’s income, property”. “They have cast their bad eyes on your property with imposition of inheritance tax, x-ray of property of every family. They would capture half of your property”, Modi said at the Munger meeting while giving examples of how it would be done for the common people. The people are now saying, added PM Modi, “Congress party’s loot will be: zindagi ke saath bhi, zindagi ke baad bhi (Congress party’s loot will be with life and even after it)”.

The Prime Minister also attacked Opposition INDI (Indian National Development Inclusive) alliance for casting their doubt over Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in elections and “defaming” it. “But, the Supreme court in an hour or two ago, has given them a big jolt over the use of EVM”. “Earlier, during RJD and Congress regime one cannot forget that how ballot papers were being looted in Bihar”. “But NDA took Bihar out of that lantern age with much hard work”.

Mr Modi also raised the issue of the construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya and said “the INDI alliance refused invitation to participate in the inaugural function, though the Ansari family which has been opposing construction of Ram temple, had come to the function after the court verdict”. “Their (Opposition INDI alliance) model is of (tushtikaran) appeasement, while, NDA’s model is of satisfaction (santushtikaran)”, he said. PM Modi also listed achievements and welfare schemes done for common people during his 10-years regime and how Bihar was benefitted from it.

The Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at the Munger public meeting too recalled the dark age of previous RJD regime before November 2005 and slammed the previous RJD and Congress governments over non-development and regular Hindu-Muslim animosity between them. “When we got opportunity in November 2005, not only the Hindu-Muslim animosity ended but works done in the field of education, health, road construction and electricity sectors. “We also ensured fortification of graveyards for Muslims and temples which are 60-years old in the State”, he said.

Mr Kumar also referred to his two-time association with the RJD in power but assured that “he has come back to the BJP permanently”. “I gave them (RJD) opportunity (to come in power) twice but they indulged in making money, so I came out and have come here (to the BJP) forever”, reiterated Mr Kumar whose conspicuous absence from two public meetings in Gay and Purnea on April 16 of Prime Minister in Bihar had provided opportunity to the Opposition RJD to take jibe over it. The Araria public meeting was PM Modi’s second rally in Bihar’s Muslim dominated seemanchal (border) area in 10-days.
