Lohri 2025: Five scrumptious mouth watering delicacies

New Delhi: India is celebrating Lohri today. Delicious food, folk songs, and the beat of dhol with friends and family… the festival is considered to be of warmth and bonding in the Northern parts of India especially in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana. It celebrates the harvest of crops at the end of the long winter. 

This day which holds such significance is incomplete without these mouth-watering delicacies. Take a look.

Gajak 
Gajak is a traditional Indian sweet made from sesame seeds or peanuts and jaggery. It is also known as Tilpatti. This Lohri must-have is crisp and carries a sugary aroma along with a unique taste. It is moderately sweet and can be made easily with tree nuts, ghee and cardamom.

Popcorn
It is a regular item on the festive menu for Lohri. Also known as makai ka lava in Hindi, this snack is best enjoyed when everyone is gathered around the bonfire on Lohri. It is also one of the main food items which are tossed in bonfires. 

Rewari
In the northern belts of India, Rewari is a must-have sugar snack during the Lohri season. It is bite-sized and is prepared with the goodness of jaggery and sesame seeds. It is best with a warm cup of tea, especially in Lohri. 

Til Ka Laddoo
This sweet dish delivers the perfect taste and is extremely beneficial for our health. It is a typical Lohri consumption. It is made with roasted sesame seeds and jaggery. It has along shelf life and can be enjoyed t throughout winter.

Peanuts
Peanuts are offered to the fire god Agnidev on the day of Lohri as a token of auspiciousness. It is believed that offering peanuts to the fire gods and food gods brings happiness, and prosperity, and ends sorrows. It is also one of the highly preferred items during winter.
