Park City (United States) (AFP) - Russian teen Dmitry Loginov, coming off a world parallel giant slalom title, and Switzerland's Julie Zogg won parallel slalom snowboard crowns on Tuesday at the World Freestyle Ski and Snowboard Championships.
A day after capturing his first world title, Loginov won another by taking the men's final when 2015 world champion Roland Fischnaller of Italy was disqualified for a mid-course missed gate while Zogg took the women's final by 0.85 of a second over Ukraine's Annamari Dancha.
Tuesday's scheduled big air snowboarding finals were postponed due to bad weather, the same blowing heavy snow that punctuated the slalom runs and dumped nearly a foot of snow on the mountain.
Loginov, who ousted defending world parallel slalom and giant slalom champion Andreas Prommegger of Austria in Monday's first round, beat him again in the second round Tuesday by 1.86 seconds after first dispatching American Robert Burns by 0.62 of a second.
Loginov downed compatriot Dmitry Sarsembaev by 1.85 seconds in the semi-final.Sarsembaev did not finish in the third-place race, handing the last podium spot to Germany's Stefan Baumeister, who was also third in the parallel giant slalom.
Zogg became the first Swiss women's champion in the event since Franzi Magert-Kohli in 2009 while Dancha settled for the first podium finish from her homeland in the event.
Germany's Ramona Hofmeister beat Russia's Maria Valova by 0.90 seconds for third place.Valova ousted defending champion Daniela Ulbing of Austria by 1.14 seconds in the opening round.
Zogg, 26, defeated Russia's Natalia Soboleva -- the women's giant slalom runner-up Monday -- by 1.36 seconds in the first round, then beat fellow Swiss Patrizia Kummer by 0.47 in the quarter-finals and downed Valova by 11.15 seconds in the semis.
