Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson was more than aware that questions about his contract extension’s impact on Tee Higgins and Joe Burrow were coming.
Meeting with reporters for the first time since signing his new deal, Wilson made it clear he got the vibe that this extension wouldn’t put the Bengals in a bad position.
“Obviously I know of the guys we want to get done too,” Wilson said. “I still think that this contract allows them to get those things done with those guys and hopefully we’re able to keep them long term, as well.”
Wilson is spot on too considering his four-year extension gets tacked on to the end of his rookie deal, keeping him in town through the 2027 season. The pay cut for Joe Mixon and the one-year extension for Trey Hendrickson that actually created a little more cap wiggle room this year speak to these goals, too.
Once again, it sure feels like everyone is on the same page when it comes to player retention and making the most of the current Super Bowl contention window. Wilson is merely the latest domino, with a few more potentially major ones falling in the form of Burrow and Higgins soon.
Higgins, for what it’s worth, recently reacted to Wilson’s extension how fans would expect.
