Logan Thomas looking ‘very good’ ahead of Week 1

One of the biggest questions marks ahead of Washington’s Week 1 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars is will starting tight end Logan Thomas return to action.

Thomas tore his ACL last December in a win against the Las Vegas Raiders on a low hit by then-Raiders defensive end Yannick Ngakoue. Thomas began training camp on the physically unable to perform list but was activated late in August.

The first injury report of the season came out Wednesday and listed Thomas as limited. After practice, head coach Ron Rivera was asked about Thomas’ availability for Sunday and offered the following:

“Logan’s looked very good,” Rivera said. “We’ll continue to monitor it, and we’ll see how it goes. But, so far, so good.”

While Rivera stopped far short of saying Thomas will play in Week 1, it certainly sounds promising for Thomas’ return.

Friday’s final injury report will be the day everyone knows of Thomas’ status for the opener. If he’s questionable, that could bode well for his return because the Commanders would know by Friday if they need to hold him out for another week or not.
