A Lockerbie man has raised enough money to buy two new defibrillators for the community.
Kenny Henry, who helped to save a man’s life last year using a device, has thanked supporters for their generous donations to his online fundraiser.
He said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has donated and raised funds to go towards my quest to put more defibrillators out for the Lockerbie community to access.
“I have raised £2,850 which will go towards two defibrillators and will be positioned in the town and surrounding area soon.
“Thank you for your support, it is very much appreciated.”
In February last year Kenny and off-duty nurse Julie Carruthers performed CPR for 20 minutes on Steve Cowie after he collapsed. They used a community defibrillator twice from nearby Lockerbie ice rink until an ambulance arrived.
Steve survived and has had a heart bypass operation and since then Crichton Trust staff member Kenny vowed to bring more of the life-saving equipment to the town.
When the JustGiving page launched in December he said: “Lockerbie is an amazing community who always come together.
“I would love to put more in Lockerbie and we won’t stop at this.”
