Location, Location, Location viewers left debating over picky Glasgow house-hunters

Location, Location, Location was back on the streets of Glasgow this week, and it was host's Kirstie Allsop and Phil Spencer turn to find two brand new couples find their dream Scottish home.

Kirstie was in charge of helping Laura and Euan, a couple who have recently moved back to Scotland from Sydney, Australia, and they want to find a place that feels like home - both from down under and up north.

Phil was with Miriam and David, who were searching high and low from the inner workings of the city to the most private parts Glasgow has to offer, in order to find their perfect property.

One Twitter user was right off the bat with the episode, as user @kenmlove said: "Rejoicing that #locationlocationlocation is in Glasgow tonight as we start our house search there next month @KirstieMAllsopp we need your guidance on the West End."

Maybe you should contact the Channel 4 bosses then Ken?

Glasgow's house average has jumped up a whopping 13 per cent in the last 12 months, compared to the UK average of 10.2 per cent - so it was a monumental task from the off for Kirstie and Phil.

Personal trainer Miriam and health and safety consultant David were up first, heading off with Phil to look at a few homes on offer in Glasgow.

Phil went searching in the Cardonald area of Glasgow, and also a little farther out in East Kilbride, in order to get more bang for Miriam and David's buck.

One Twitter user said: "So I could sell my Midlands home, buy something bigger in Glasgow and have change? I’m off!!"

Another added: "So, I am watching Location, Location, Location and people are thinking of moving to Cardonald. Why would anybody move to Cardonald when they could move to Paisley proper?"

Kirstie headed to the West End area of Glasgow with science academics Laura and Euan, to look for a swankier, more upmarket home.

Property number one was a tenement home in Cardonald for David and Miriam, with three bedrooms, a compact kitchen and is on the market for offers over £250,000.

Laura and Euan first looked at a three-bedroom tenement flat in the West End, with a shared garden and on offer for £335,000 - not too pricey then, right?

Viewers were in two minds about this first property, with one Twitter user writing: "@KirstieMAllsopp why is this house sooooo grey inside! What’s up with people. Ugh! #locationlocationlocation."

Another added: "I liked that house that Kirsty showed her couple #c4locations #locationlocationlocation."

And a third wrote: "That house Kirsty showed them was pretty nice #c4location #locationlocationlocation."

There weren't many fans of Euan, however, as one Twitter user said: "Is he very very cross at having to come back from Sydney, or is that just his natural demeanour and expression ? #LocationLocationLocation."

And another added: "He's a bit annoying... #locationlocationlocation."

Continuing throughout the episode, more viewers commented on Euan's attitude, as a Twitter user wrote: "Ewan really is a strange fish… this Hillhead apt is lovely #locationlocationlocation."

Another said: "Euan is a grumpy whatsit #locationlocationlocation."

And a third added: "Ewen isn't going to get over being forced to leave Sydney. #locationlocationlocation."

Some viewers felt Euan wasn't happy to be back in Glasgow, and it took Kirstie a lot of convincing to have the couple fully commit to a home on the market.

But one viewer stuck up for the property hunter, as the Twitter user said: "Good show tonight. I like Euan. He wears his heart on his sleeve and would make a terrible poker player. I relate to that totally #locationlocationlocation."

Phil had better luck with Miriam and David, however, as they went into all the properties with an open mind and wide net over what they want.

Viewers were still not pleased with the property pursuers attitudes, as one Twitter user said: "#locationlocationlocation another bunch of fussy buggers who won’t compromise on anything."

Another made a good point by saying: "Must be nice to have your home featured on Location Location Location and watch as the house-hunters dismiss it as s***."

A third wrote: "Ewan #locationlocationlocation strikes me as a right arrogant so and so!!!"

More comments read: "The grumpy guy’s punishing his West End Wendy wife by hating all the Hyndland flats and making her look in Bearsden, because she made him leave Oz. #locationlocationlocation"

Eventually, Laura and Euan put an offer down on a first floor tenement flat in Glasgow, while Miriam and David chose to hold off putting an offer down on a flat, as it didn't give them that 'it's the one' feeling.

Miriam and David eventually settled on a property not actually shown on the programme, but selected by Phil, and put an offer down straight away.

They moved further out to Cambuslang, and got an offer accepted of £360,000 for a detached four-bedroom home - with space for a gym!

Laura and Euan are ecstatic in their new home too - mostly because it's next to a chippy.

But one Twitter user was flabbergasted - not by the homes, but more the prices.

They said: "Didn't realise Glasgow properties were so expensive. Between £300,000 and £450,000 for apartment. #locationlocationlocation"

Location, Location, Location resumes every Wednesday on Channel 4 at 8pm.
