Locals plan search for missing Karen Stevenson who vanished nearly three weeks ago

Locals are to search for missing Scot Karen Stevenson following her disappearance nearly three weeks ago.

The 42-year-old was last seen on Seafar Road, near McGregor Road in Cumbernauld, at around 3.15am on Saturday, February 19.

Her 'worried' family has said her disappearance is 'completely unusual'.

Cops have carried out extensive searches and urgently appealed for information but Karen is yet to be traced.

Locals are now being urged to join a search for Karen nearly three weeks on from when she first went missing.

Taking to social media, Nicola Masterson pleaded that she was looking for as many people as possible to come along.

She said: Looking for help from as many people as possible from the local community, to help search for Karen.

"Please share this as much as possible in our local community pages so we can get as many people as possible to help.

"We have arranged a large coordinated community search with the blessing of Karen's family. We had been hoping to do this before now, but the police and family had asked us not to for various valid reasons.

"The last known confirmed sighting of Karen was at Mcgregor Road on February 19th at approximately 3.15/3.30am.

"There has been another possible (unconfirmed) sighting of Karen at the slip road up to Condorrat at approximately 3.45am, which would suggest she has walked down the dual carriageway and taken the slip road up to Condorrat."

The search will take place on Sunday, March 13, and begin at 9am from Greenfaulds Train Station in Cumbernauld.

She added: "The police have asked that people wear suitable clothing for searching, so walking or Wellington boots, or flat comfortable boots, if you have a high vis then please wear this if not, wear something that makes you visible.

"Please dress accordingly for the weather, wear layers, and hats gloves etc. Please have a bottle of water or maybe a flask of tea. Make sure your mobile phone has a full charge and most importantly keep yourself and everyone with you safe."

Karen is described as 5ft 1ins tall, of a slim build with long brown hair.

She was wearing a cream long sleeve t-shit with a graphic design, a purple jacket with a fur lined hood, black leggings and black ankle boots when she was last seen. She may also have been carrying a small pink handbag, with metal studs and a chain strap.

Anyone with relevant information is asked to call the police on 101, using the reference no. 3369 of Saturday, February 19, 2022.”
