Local law enforcement agencies responding to the wildfires are receiving significant support from outside agencies, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert G. Luna. The sheriff reported that approximately 234 officers from the California Highway Patrol have been deployed to assist with the ongoing efforts. Additionally, 16 agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration are also providing support, with a focus on aiding in the wildfire response rather than their usual narcotics-related duties.
In addition to these reinforcements, the National Guard has been actively involved in the firefighting operations. Sheriff Luna revealed that over 600 National Guard personnel have been deployed across various areas, including those under the jurisdiction of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the Los Angeles Police Department, as well as in cities like Pasadena and Santa Monica.
The collaborative efforts between local law enforcement agencies and the external support from the California Highway Patrol, Drug Enforcement Administration, and the National Guard highlight the coordinated response to the wildfires. With the combined resources and manpower, authorities are working diligently to contain the fires and ensure the safety of residents in the affected areas.
