Local foodie couple to open new cafe in Omagh

A local couple from Omagh are preparing to open their first restaurant in the town as they take the plunge to set up their own business.

Bronagh and Andy Gormley will open Bo and Andy’s at the Gortrush Industrial Estate in the Co Tyrone town next month. Bronagh is well-known in the local area having worked for the local chamber of commerce for the past six years.

A self-confessed food fanatic having set up her own food tour of some of the hotspots in and around Omagh, Bronagh said it was an exciting time for the couple to be opening up their own business.

“I’m sad to be moving on but I think my experience in the Chamber has given me the confidence to give me and my husband the chance to do what we’ve always wanted to do, open our own business,” Bronagh told MyTyrone.

“We both started out in the hospitality sector since we left school and have over 15 years experience. We’re very confident in moving forward now with Bo and Andy’s.

“We are going to be based at Omagh Enterprise Company in the Gortrush Industrial Estate. It’s going to be a 50 seater restaurant, open Monday to Friday.

“It’s very much going to be accommodating freelancers, office workers near here and the general public as well. There’s a natural footfall with all the businesses in that area.

“We aren’t going to open at the weekends for the minute but we will look at that down the line if the opportunity arises. The official opening is on 8 August.”

Bronagh added that it was a big step for the pair but a challenge they were very much looking forward to.

“It’s a big step for us, I’ve managed a bar and restaurant in a previous life and Andy has been managing baristas in different businesses for the last 12 years.

“It’s a really exciting opportunity, we know it’s not going to be without its challenges. With Andrew being a chef and his experience that will all help going forward.”
