Local Elections 2022: St Helens Council results live as they happen

Voting took place across St Helens yesterday (Thursday), with residents asked to vote for every single seat on the council.

The council has moved to a totally new system of what are known as 'all out elections', with every seat on the council up for grabs. While voting took place yesterday, the counting will take place today (Friday).

The all out votes means there will be a lot of counting taking place and we might not get declarations until this afternoon. Full council elections always bring an element of chaos and surprise and anything could happen.

The council is currently firmly in Labour control. The party holds 33 of the 48 seats. There is however, a good chance of that number decreasing in an unpredictable all out election.

We will be bringing you live updates, results and reaction via our live blog, with reporters at the scene. But you can also keep up to date with every result as it comes in using our special election tool below.
