Voters across Knowsley headed to the polls yesterday (Thursday) to cast their votes in the 2022 local elections.
Unlike some other Merseyside councils, Knowsley Council's counting will take place today (Friday). We will be finding out who the winners and losers are for the borough this morning and into the afternoon.
Counting will be taking place at the Knowsley Leisure and Culture Park in Huyton. Our reporter Aaliyah Rugg will be there to capture the results as they come in and you can follow all the live action on our live blog here.
Labour have a firm grip of power in Knowsley. The party currently holds 32 of the council's 45 seats, with the Greens the lead opposition on five, four independents, three Liberal Democrats and one vacant seat.
While Labour will retain control, there is always a good chance of an upset. Last year saw Labour's deputy leader Sean Donnelly lose what was deemed a safe seat in Kirkby to former firefighter and little known independent candidate Steve Smith. Once again independent candidates will be hopeful this time around, with the Green also looking to gain seats.
Our live election tool will below will keep you updated on all the Knowsley Council results as soon as they come in. Stay tuned for updates.
