People standing as a candidate for local elections in Lanarkshire are invited to complete a Scottish Government diversity survey.
The survey aims to help build a better picture of who stands for elections as current data on this subject is lacking and all candidates standing for council elections are able to fill out the survey.
The government aims to gain a better understanding of who stands and who is elected in order to understand how representative candidates and elected members are of the communities they serve.
The survey is brief and voluntary and covers candidates demographic characteristics, their previous experience and any caring responsibilities they have to help gather a complete picture of who stands for election to Scottish councils.
The survey has been organised by Scottish Government analysts who worked with the Electoral Management Board for Scotland (EMB), the Electoral Commission (EC), COSLA and the Improvement Service along with a range of equality stakeholders.
Candidates are able to respond to the survey online or on paper (to return by post), it is brief and should only take five minutes to complete.
Information provided by candidates will be protected under the data protection legislation and responses will be kept confidential and stored securely and only to be used for statistical or research purposes.
A report with data tables will be published by the Scottish Government after the results of the 2022 local government elections.
