A local Centra in East Wall has offered to be a safe base for children in emergencies.
Children who find themselves locked out of the house, who missed the school bus and have no credit to call their parents, will now be able to call their parents to pick them up by going to their local Centra shop. “Parents, with the proper cold, wet, dark evenings upon us, we want you to tell your children that if they are ever in an emergency,” they announced on their Facebook page.
“Instead of waiting out in the cold wet weather, they can come down to us here in Centra, where they can call you on our phone and wait here safely.” This is not the first time a Centra shop offered to be a safe refuge for children, and parents can only hope that the spirit of community will spread to the other shops.
However, the Centra workers noted at the end that this offer does not apply to any husbands kicked out of the house or locked out of the house on purpose.
