It does really upset me when I head to a café and find out I've missed the window when I have their breakfast or brunch menu - so it's nice that the breakfast menu at Loaf Far Headingley is available all day.
It's full of brunch favourites like a full Yorkshire breakfast and poached eggs on toast, or you can order off the sandwiches selection if you're not after breakfast food. Loaf also sources many of its ingredients from local suppliers, including Yumbo Bakes in Horsforth and Sykes Farm in Wetherby.
It comes well recommended, so I headed up to Far Headingley on a weekday lunchtime to try it out. It's a cosy little café in a pretty, old building, with a friendly vibe as soon as you walk in.

At the other tables, there was some people working with a coffee, and others popping in for lunch. There aren't many good breakfast places near where I live, so I was excited to try the food at Loaf.
I ordered a cappuccino, the chorizo Benedict, and a slice of the red velvet cake to finish it all off. The staff were very friendly.
I'd brought a book, with the intention of reading while I ate, and I felt like Loaf would have been a good place to do that - relaxed with a buzz but not too loud. Anyway my coffee arrived very quickly (the book never actually left my bag).
The coffee was good - well-sized with a generous dusting of chocolate on top. Sweet and bitter - perfect to get through the afternoon lull.
My chorizo benedict arrived not long after. This consisted of sourdough bread with smashed avocado, chorizo slices, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce.
It was a well-presented and colourful dish, with the avocado and hollandaise neatly spread across the sourdough, and the chorizo juice spread to form a framing circle around the dish.
And it tasted good as well as looking good - the bread was crispy, the avocado smooth and fresh, the chorizo spicy and the hollandaise tangy. It all worked together very well for a fantastic brunch dish I'm going to have to stop myself from wanting every day.
And then once I'd finished that, my red velvet cake slice was brought over. This was a very generous slice of cake.
The cake itself was sweet, and moist, with a melt-in-the mouth texture. That worked great against the slight tang from the cream cheese icing, which was hitting that good spot between generous and sickly.
It was a great slice of cake, that I had to take home to finish later in a takeaway box because I was too full from the Chorizo Benedict. It was still very good when I finished it that evening.
So all in all, Loaf Far Headingley is a great spot for breakfast/brunch/lunch/whatever you're after, or even if you're just wanting to grab a good coffee and get some work done.
