A freed murderer was caught with a loaded gun after stabbing another man.
Stuart McNab crashed his BMW car into another motor before attacking the driver with a metal bar and wounding him with a screwdriver.
But when police attended at McNab's Lanarkshire home following the incident they found drugs, £6,000 in cash and a revolver loaded with six rounds. The 46-year-old, who has been recalled to prison, was given a life sentence as a teenager in 1992 for murder after stabbing a man to death in Glasgow.

A judge at the High Court in Edinburgh told him that the most serious of his latest offences was the assault on driver John Connolly in Bargeddie on June 1 2020.
Lord Scott said: "This assault involved the use of two separate weapons."
The judge said that after the victim was hit with the metal bar McNab went to his car and returned with a screwdriver and inflicted a "potentially life threatening" injury.
The judge imposed a prison sentence totalling nine years and 10 months after he earlier admitted a string of offences.
Mr Connolly was stabbed in the chest with the weapon but none of his internal organs was injured. A doctor went to his aid before he was taken to Monklands Hospital and his wound was closed with stitches.
The court heard that the victim was driving on Monkland View Crescent - where McNab lived - with a child passenger when he saw the BMW coming towards him at speed.
After the BMW collided with his car he got into an altercation with McNab who struck him with a metal bar before arming himself with the screwdriver and stabbing his victim.
Police arrived in the street following a 999 call and saw the damaged vehicles and Mr Connolly lying in a nearby garden being helped by the doctor.
They were directed to McNab's home where he was arrested for assault. Officers went into the house to check that no one was injured in the premises, but saw items that led to them seek search warrants.
During a full search they found an Enfield revolver which was in working order and loaded with six bullets. They also found nine more bullets, amphetamine with a street value of £720, £6,000 in cash, drug tick lists and scales.
McNab earlier admitted assaulting Mr Connolly to his injury and the danger of his life, careless driving, possession of a prohibited weapon, the revolver, and ammunition and being concerned in the supply of the Class B drug amphetamine.
The court heard that McNab was first released on a life licence in 2003. He was later convicted of possessing knives and his last release was in 2015 before he was recalled to prison on his life sentence following the crimes in 2020.
Defence counsel Thomas Ross QC said a background report prepared on McNab showed "a fairly unhappy childhood".
He said: "His mum died when he was very young and he was taken into local authority care. He was in there for a number of years."
Mr Ross said that McNab has now "reflected upon the error of his ways".
Lord Scott told McNab: "If and when you are released again, and as Mr Ross acknowledged it is an if, you will remain subject to recall by the parole board."
