Liz Truss has been told she needs to stand down by Conservative MP Jamie Wallis. The Bridgend MP wrote "enough is enough" on Twitter as he shared a letter to the Prime Minister.
The tweet, posted on Sunday evening, read: "In recent weeks, I have watched as the Government has undermined Britain’s economic credibility and fractured our party irreparably. Enough is enough. I have written to the Prime Minister to ask her to stand down as she no longer holds the confidence of this country."
In his letter to the Prime Minister, the Welsh politician said her decisions "undermined Britain's credibility as a trustworthy, responsible leading economy and fractured [the Conservative] party in a potentially irreparable manner".

In March this year, Jamie, who was elected in 2019, released a highly personal statement saying he was raped and blackmailed, wants to transition to be a woman and also suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
In Sunday's letter, he called out senior members of the party for "exploiting the issue of transgender rights" during the leadership contest. He said: "Observing the hostile nature of the debate and then witnessing increased hostility towards transgender people on social media and in-person was distressing. However, you chose not to challenge this behaviour and have now chosen to have those same colleagues sit alongside you in your government."
Although Jamie said "mistakes can be undone", he added he did not believe this was possible with Liz Truss as leader, also referencing "the way in which you have allowed our Welsh colleagues to be undermined through your decision to appoint an English MP as Secretary of State in the Wales Office despite having the most ever Welsh Conservative MPS." He also criticises her "handling of the press" and says "we could never be a united team while you are our leader". Signing the letter off, Jamie wrote: "I ask you to stand down as Prime Minister as I believe you no longer hold the confidence of the country or the parliamentary party. It is the right thing to do to ensure the stability, security and prosperity of the people whom we owe everything."
Jamie's letter came days after the leader of the Conservatives in Wales, Andrew RT Davies, said there should be a general election if Prime Minister Liz Truss could not "regain confidence". He spoke before it was announced that Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng had been sacked after only 38 days in the job.
In an interview with Times Radio, he said: "It's important now that we reflect on where we're at, the prime minister seeks to regain that confidence, and if she can't regain that confidence, it would be right that people have their chance to have their say on this matter".
