Within hours of her resigning as Prime Minister, odds were slashed on Liz Truss being on the new series of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.
Shortly after 1.30pm, Truss, who was only in the job for 44 days, appeared on the steps of 10 Downing Street to deliver news of her resignation, after a week of speculation that her future as Conservative leader was in serious doubt. In a televised statement, she said: "This morning I met the chairman of the 1922 Committee, Sir Graham Brady.
“We’ve agreed that there will be a leadership election to be completed within the next week. This will ensure that we remain on a path to deliver our fiscal plan and maintain our country’s economic stability and national security.
“I will remain as Prime Minister until a successor has been chosen."
Truss' departure quickly became headline news and as well as odds on who will be the next Prime Minister, bookies Betfair published odds on the outgoing PM going into the Australian jungle for the next series of I'm A Celeb, which is due to get going on ITV in November.
The likes of Boy George and Jill Scott are on the I'm A Celebrity rumoured line-up and Truss is on odds of 6/1 to join them. And the long-running programme isn't the only show that she has been linked with in the aftermath of her resignation announcement.
She is currently on odds of 12/1 to be on The Masked Singer next year, 20/1 to do Dancing on Ice in the future, 16/1 to take a spin in the Strictly ballroom next year and 23/1 to be a contestant on Celebrity Masterchef.
