Livingston Women's boss delighted with strength in depth following win over Dryburgh Athletic

Livingston Women’s head coach Paul Jaconelli hailed his side’s strength in depth after they sealed a 5-0 away win against Dryburgh Athletic.

The victory keeps them six points clear at the top of the third-tier SWF Championship table and makes it nine straight league wins on the bounce.

Five different Lionesses got their name on the scoresheet with striker Brogan Anderson bagged her first for the club on seven minutes to get the ball rolling.

She played a role in Livi’s second as she was fouled 20 yards out with Gemma Mason pinging the resulting free-kick into the top corner just after the 30-minute mark to give them a 2-0 half-time advantage.

Further goals after the break came from Amy Hay on 53 minutes before substitutes Eve Sommerville and Sharon Hughes-Lee rounded things off in Dundee.

It marked a stark contrast to the 0-0 draw played out at the same venue on the opening day of the season, something Jaconelli admits is a sign of their progress.

Speaking to the Courier, he said: “I think you can see just by the result that there’s been huge progress this season but we’re also now playing some great football which maybe hadn’t been the case earlier.

“We changed things up a wee bit for this game and it shows that we’ve got great ability all through the squad because there were a few who stepped up and every single one of them got top marks on Sunday.”

He added: “The way we’ve been playing of late has been really pleasing and I’m delighted for the girls but we all know we need to keep it going. Things can change very quickly in football.”

With Ashley Elizabeth having picked up a knock against Rossvale, recent signing Anderson partnered Jen Dodds up front with Jaconelli saying he’s thrilled to have all three players at his disposal.

He said: “Ashley’s injured and that’s helped Brogan get more minutes. She’s really adapted quickly and been great for us so far.

“We’ve got three brilliant strikers who all bring something different and play different styles. I’m really looking forward to seeing all three.”
