Andrew Shinnie insists he’s not in any rush to sort out his future because his sole aim is helping fire Livingston up the Premiership table.
The 33-year-old’s two-year deal runs out in June and the former Scotland international says that contract talks are on the back burner for the moment as the Lions chase a top-six spot and prepare for Saturday’s trip to his former club Hibs.
The ex-Birmingham City man has struggled to stake a permanent place in the starting line-up since his arrival last summer, with just shy of half his appearances coming off the bench.
He said: “My contract is up in the summer but we haven’t really had any chats about that yet. We’re just focusing on the football right now.
“The time for that stuff will come as the season goes on. It’s full focus on trying to finish as high as we can in the league.”
The Lions travel to Parkhead tonight to take on Celtic with the veteran insisting David Martindale's masterplan can cause the hosts problems.
He commented: "We have game plans and against the bigger sides and we have done well. We nearly took three points at Ibrox but for a last-minute goal a few weeks ago. At Tynecastle, it was a last kick of the ball and we nearly beat them as well.
“We got a point at Parkhead last season. We were hard to beat and got a 0-0, so you go there for a difficult game but there’s no reason we can’t have a game plan and pick up points.
“You have to assess your opponent, you work on how you are going to play and have different plans. Some away games may be tougher than some home games but the manager will give us a plan and we’ll try to execute it as best we can."
He added: "It is mentally probably the main thing, more than physically. You are going to get tired but that is when you have to focus more and keep your mind on the job.
“One little slip and you can concede a goal, so you have to be organised but plans can go out the window if you concede early, so you have to be flexible in the game.”
