Livingston boss David Martindale says he hopes to start contract extension talks with midfielder Scott Pittman that will take him beyond a testimonial year.
The 29-year-old netted the winner in the club's 1-0 victory over Hibs this afternoon on the day he broke the club's record for most Premiership appearances.
And with seven-and-a-half seasons under his belt at the Tony Macaroni Arena the gaffer is looking to tie him up to a longer term deal.
Martindale commented: "I'm going to speak to his agent to try and get a contract tied down that takes him into his testimonial year and beyond that.
"He's got a year left and needs one more after that for a testimonial. He's going to break all club records here. He's broken the Premiership appearance record today and he's 10 off tying the club overall record. Pitts could surpass that by 100 easily. I don't think it's every going to be replicated at Livingston Football Club.
"People don't tend to stay that long at clubs anymore, especially at a club like Livingston where you're the lowest paid in the Premiership and it would be easy to get your head turned and go elsewhere.
"He's a legend at this football club and he's a stallion. His fitness level and conditioning level is incredible. It must be an absolute nightmare marking him and playing against him. I always make sure he's in my team at training."
Martindale, a former team-mate and assistant manager of Pittman at Broxburn Athletic, said the midfielder and the club were a 'good fit' and praised the player's work ethic and said it's played a huge part in his success.
He commented: "I used to take training at Broxburn on the Thursday and you'd be out the shower and heading to the car and Pitts was still running a good 30-40 minutes after training. I'd be thinking 'I've just put you through a session, what you doing?' But that's Pitts. He's worked extremely hard to get himself into the position he's in."
Martindale admitted he has no doubts that the former Bo'ness United man will put pen to paper, adding: "Pitts will sign the deal. Honestly, for the first four years of his time at the club he never asked about money, he never asked about his contract. I asked him to sign and he signed. I'd give him what I could but we never spoke about money.
"After his first year in the Premiership I told him he should get an agent and I put him in touch with one who is a similar personality and looks after his players. We always gave him what we thought we could afford to give him. Coming from Junior football he started out right at the bottom financially and he's worked his way up to becoming one of the highest earners.
"I'll speak to his agent and I'll speak to wee Pitts but he'll not be a problem. It's a good fit. He's a good fit for Livingston and we're a good fit for him. He's in a club where he's loved and valued and he brings a lot to this football club and I think he knows that and there's a lot to be said for that loyalty."
