Livingston defender Jack Fitzwater is well aware of the fact that the club are trying to sell him.
However, he admits he's in no rush to leave because he's also well aware of the benefits of being a young centre-back and playing every week in a competitive league.
The 24-year-old is entering the final year of his contract at the Tony Macaroni Arena and boss David Martindale has made it clear he'd rather sell the Englishman than see him leave for nothing in the summer. It is Livi's business model, after all, and the gaffer's honesty is something the defender appreciates.
He knows his future likely lies elsewhere - and he may even be in his final couple of weeks at the club with the closure of the August transfer window fast approaching.
That won't stop him form enjoying being a Livingston player and giving his all for the jersey, including today's clash with Hibs.
He said: "If you can come here and put in performances, the gaffer’s made no secret that he won’t stand in your way.
“That goes for every player, but at the same time, it’s a great league. I want to play as many games as possible.
“I’m 24 and as a centre-half playing in Scottish football, I’m quite happy. There’s a lot of time to get where I want. Everyone knows where they stand. He’ll tell you straight what he thinks, what he wants for the club and what he wants for you. As black and white as it is, I enjoy it.
“My first season was a bit of an adjustment period but last season I played every game and I felt like I’d progressed. Now I’m one of the more experienced players. I want to play at the highest level I can. If I keep putting in performances, being consistent, I’ll get where I want.
“At the time being, I’m enjoying my football up here. We’ve got a great squad and we’re playing against some really top players.”
